Vintage Toons

I have gotten back into downloading and listening to podcasts again. The video ones are great and I stumbled upon a particularly interesting one, Vintage Tooncast. There are some that that have been censored or hidden from public view because they seem extreme or offensive by today’s standards. They have elements of racism, violence or anti-Communist messages or other ideas that, I think, are certainly not appropriate for children.

Enough time has passed, though, that many of these cartoons are available in the public domain and on the Web, but have been censored until recently. Since I am a library school grad and a strong supporter of free speech, I do not think media that shows these offensive messages should be completely hidden from the public.

So, this website shows some of these vintage cartoons and here are a few:
